Your legal rights when it comes to a Funeral
A funeral is not something that a person deals with on a regular basis. 95% of the time people have no idea what rights they have and do not have. Funeral homes tend to scare people into purchasing items or services that are not required yet claim they are mandatory. Here are some things we think you will find very helpful when planning your funeral.
-
You are not required to purchase your casket or urn from the funeral home. You are allowed to purchase your own from a 3rd party and have it delivered to the funeral home. The funeral home IS required to accept it.
-
You are not required to purchase a monument from the funeral home that has performed the burial service. You are allowed to purchase your own from a 3rd party and have it unveiled at the cemetery when it’s ready.
-
You are not required to have a full service funeral if you do not wish to have one. You can just request a private burial with no viewing.
- You are not required to have the police escort your group to the cemetery or place of disposition.
